Fixing Cracks in Plaster
Planning on painting plaster walls? You'll want to inspect closely for cracks and fix them before laying on that fresh coat.
Start by digging out each crack with a utility knife, removing loose plaster.
Next, use the blade to cut the crack a little wider underneath the plaster than on the surface, creating an angled channel for drywall compound.
After wetting the channel with a rag or paintbrush, use a putty knife to smooth the compound into the crack, and then apply drywall joint tape.
Once it is dry, sand the area down to a smooth surface and paint away.
